The Teacher Behind the Method
Brian Dougan's unique career path has given him unparalleled insights into human movement, health, and wellness. He began as a massage therapist in the late 1980s, studying and practicing Structural Integration—a methodology that fundamentally changed how he understood the human body.
After a decade in massage therapy, Brian pivoted to engineering, working for a large defense contractor where he applied analytical thinking to complex problems. This diverse professional background, combined with his formal education in physics and astronomy, enabled him to develop a scientific yet intuitive approach to movement and fitness.
Now retired from the defense industry and running a real estate investment company, Brian dedicates himself to teaching and sharing the Expansional Balance methodology. He holds a B.A. in Physics and Astronomy, an MBA, and is a certified Holistic Health Practitioner with over 1,000 hours of training in massage and somatic practices from IPSB in San Diego.
